 Scripture Ingredient

~ Ephesians 6:13-17

Introduction

In Ephesians 6:13-17, the apostle Paul uses vivid imagery of armor to illustrate the spiritual battle Christians face. This passage encourages believers to equip themselves with divine armor to withstand spiritual attacks and stand firm in their faith.

Main Highlights

Paul begins by urging believers to "put on the whole armor of God" (Ephesians 6:13). This armor consists of:

1. The Belt of Truth: Symbolizing integrity and sincerity in one's faith (Ephesians 6:14).

2. The Breastplate of Righteousness: Signifying moral purity and protection of the heart (Ephesians 6:14).

3. Feet shod with the readiness of the gospel of peace: Reflecting readiness to spread the gospel and stand firm in peace (Ephesians 6:15).

4. The Shield of Faith: Used to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy (Ephesians 6:16).

5. The Helmet of Salvation: Protecting the mind and assuring believers of their eternal destiny (Ephesians 6:17).

6. The Sword of the Spirit: Representing the Word of God, our offensive weapon in spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:17).

Related Scriptures

(James 4:7 (ESV): "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

(1 Peter 5:8-9 (ESV): "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being                          experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world."

(2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (ESV): "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and    every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every                    thought captive to obey Christ."

Conclusion

This Scripture calls believers to be vigilant, armed with spiritual armor, and rooted in God's truth to effectively combat spiritual opposition and live in the victory that Christ has secured for them.
